Every kind, one call
Stanford’s one significant public parking is Wilcox Memorial Park — and unlike most of the small parks in this part of the county, people camp there. That means cars sitting overnight, which is a different problem from cars sitting for an afternoon.
Wilcox Park
The county park sits off the Taconic near the NY-199 interchange, with seasonal day use including swimming and camping.
The camping part is what makes it worth a section. A day visitor with a key problem has a bad afternoon. A camper with a key problem has a car they can’t drive, kit they can’t easily move, and often a site booked for another night.
They’re also frequently from outside the area, which means no spare key within reach and no easy way home.
If that’s you, the useful information when you call is which part of the park you’re in — day-use and camping areas aren’t adjacent.
The Taconic
The parkway runs through Stanford, with interchanges at Bulls Head Road and NY-199.
If your car is stopped on the parkway itself, call 911 before you call us. There’s little shoulder in places and a stationary vehicle is a hazard. Get behind the guardrail and wait there.
Off the parkway — in the park, in Stanfordville, on a town road — that’s an ordinary call.

No dealer here
Stanford has no car dealership. The nearest franchised store is Ruge’s Chevrolet in Millbrook, roughly eight miles south.
Eight miles is nothing if the car drives and everything if it doesn’t.
Our comparison of the options covers the alternatives.
