Every kind, one call
Fishkill is where I-84 meets Route 9 and the Taconic State Parkway ends. It has no train station, but it has three park-and-ride lots — and the people who use them have a specific problem when a key stops working.
The crossroads
Three interchanges sit in or around the town: I-84 Exit 46 at Route 9, Exit 52 where the Taconic comes in, and Exit 44 at Route 52. The Taconic terminates here.
That makes Fishkill a place people meet to go somewhere else — which is exactly what a park-and-ride is for.
The three lots
Dutchess Mall park-and-ride on Route 9, around 100 spaces, privately owned and leased to the state.
The Wappingers Falls Park & Ride, another 100 spaces — physically in Fishkill despite the name.
Lime Kiln Road at I-84 Exit 15, a state lot with a 48-hour limit, no permit and no fee.
Together that’s a couple of hundred vehicles left by people who then got into somebody else’s car.
That’s the distinctive problem here. A carpooler who can’t get back into their vehicle at six in the evening is stranded differently from a commuter at a train station. The person who drove them has usually gone home. There’s no train to wait for. And the Lime Kiln lot’s 48-hour limit means the car can’t simply be left until the weekend.

The naming problem
Worth being precise about, because two of the three lots are misleadingly named.
The Wappingers Falls Park & Ride is in Fishkill. The Dutchess Mall lot is named for a mall. If you’re describing where your car is, the road and the interchange are more useful than the lot’s name.
The dealer
Fishkill has one franchised dealership — Healey Hyundai.
If you drive a Hyundai and the car is drivable, that’s local. For every other make the nearest franchised dealers are the Route 9 corridor north toward Wappingers and Poughkeepsie, or across the river.
Our comparison of what each option can do covers the rest.
What to have ready
- Which lot, and which road or exit it’s off
- Year, make and model
- Whether you have any working key
- Whether anyone else has a key who could reach you
- Proof of ownership — registration or title, and matching photo ID

Frequently asked questions
Is there a train station in Fishkill?
No. The nearest is Beacon, about four miles southwest. Fishkill’s unattended parking is park-and-ride rather than rail.
Why is the Wappingers Falls Park & Ride in Fishkill?
It’s named for the community it serves rather than where it sits. If you’re telling us where your car is, use the road and the interchange.
How long can I leave a car at Lime Kiln Road?
That lot carries a 48-hour limit. Worth mentioning if your car can’t move.
I carpooled and now I can’t get into my car.
That’s the common Fishkill call. Tell us the lot and what you drive — we come to the vehicle, which matters when the person who drove you has gone.
Is there a dealer in Fishkill?
One — Healey Hyundai. For other makes the nearest franchised stores are north on Route 9 or across the river.
My fob won’t work after sitting all day.
Check the battery first. Our key fob battery guide covers how to tell.
