Keys, fobs and remotes — all the same job
Whether you turn a metal key, press buttons on a remote head, or start the car with a fob in your pocket, it’s the same work — the right key for your vehicle, cut and paired to the car so the engine runs. The names differ. What we do doesn’t.
Not just cars
If it rolls, floats or flies, chances are we have a key for it. Tell us the make and model and we’ll tell you straight away.
Where we work
Poughkeepsie is home. From there we cover Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster and Orange counties — the commuter lots at Beacon and Brewster, the hospitals in Kingston and Middletown, the trailheads above Cold Spring, and a long way west into Orange County — plus Westchester, Rockland and Columbia.
We cross the Hudson. Every town and village we serve has its own page, because a lockout at a railway station is a different problem from one at a trailhead or in a driveway.
What it costs
Most jobs cost less than the dealer and none of them need a tow. Here’s where common jobs start. What moves the price →
| Job | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Car lockout | From $75 |
| Key fob programming | From $75 |
| Broken key extraction | From $75 |
| Car rekey | From $125 |
| Spare transponder (chip) key | From $150 |
| Key fob replacement | From $150 |
Starting prices for a standard daytime job. The exact price depends on the make, model year and key type, and you get it on the phone before we come out: (845) 206-4917.
What makes this different
We come to the car. Programming runs through the vehicle’s diagnostic port, which means the equipment travels rather than the car. That’s the whole point when the car can’t move.
Call or text — whichever’s easier. Texting works just as well as calling, and it’s often quicker when you’re standing next to a car that won’t open. Same number: (845) 206-4917.
We’ll tell you when we can’t help. Certain makes and model years route through a dealer even for credentialed professionals. If yours is one, you’ll hear it on the phone rather than on your driveway.
Every vehicle is different. We’ve written a page for each of the sixteen makes people ask about most, because a 2004 Chevrolet and a 2021 Chevrolet are genuinely different jobs.
How it works
- 1
Call or text
Year, make and model, whether you have any working key, and where the vehicle is.
- 2
We arrive with the right key
The key and any manufacturer access are sorted before we drive out, not discovered at your car.
- 3
Checked, cut, programmed, tested
Proof of ownership first. Then the work, and every key tested before we leave.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come to me?
Yes — we’re mobile and come to the vehicle, because the programming runs through the car’s diagnostic port. We cover the Hudson Valley, Westchester and Rockland from Poughkeepsie, and we cross the Hudson. See the service area →
Keys, fobs, remotes — do you do all of them?
All of them, plus ignitions and high-security keys. Whether you turn a metal key or start the car with a fob in your pocket, it’s the same underlying job. See car key services →
Can you make a key if I’ve lost every one?
Usually — though it’s a bigger job than adding a spare, and it depends on your make and year. Some makes and model years route through a dealer even for credentialed professionals; if yours is one, we’ll tell you on the phone. Bring every key you own, including ones you think are dead. Find your make →
What do you need from me to make a key?
Proof the vehicle is yours — registration or title, plus matching photo ID — checked before any work, every time. That check is the only thing standing between your car and someone who wants it. How it works →
Can I text you instead of calling?
Yes — same number, (845) 206-4917. Send the year, make and model, where the vehicle is, and what’s going on in your own words. That’s everything we’d ask on a call.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the vehicle and the job, so we won’t quote a figure here that doesn’t account for your car. What actually drives the price is on our cost guide. What determines the cost →
